The air is brisk, leaves are crisp and classes are in full swing. To our new families: welcome! To our returning families: welcome back! The school community is a special one, and we’re genuinely excited you’re part of it.
About the SPG
The Selkirk Parent Group (SPG) is an independent committee of the Pacific Montessori Society. As parents and caregivers of children in the school, you, dear readers, are all members.
The group has two main goals:
- Raise funds to support our students, and
- Through caregiver involvement, foster an inclusive, effective school community.
The SPG is run by a volunteer executive, led by the Chair, Cheryl B. We’d like to welcome Sarah B. as our new Vice-Chair and Asal T. as our new Treasurer (with support from Ying H.). Welcome, too, to, Lara C. as our new Website Coordinator, and Laura W. and Nicole C., who are tag-teaming our Fundraising/Volunteer Co-Coordinator role. Thanks to Melaina H. for continuing as Secretary and Amalia C. for continuing as our Communications Coordinator.
Last but not least, welcome and thank you to those new and familiar faces who have stepped up to act as class representatives, and to run various fundraisers and community-building events throughout the year. We couldn’t do it without you!
New year … new website!
The best way to keep up-to-date with SPG efforts is to visit our lovely, new website at https://selkirkparentgroup.com/
The site is your go-to resource for keeping up with our activities. You can also add yourself to our email list and sign up to volunteer. We’ll continue to include updates in this monthly newsletter and of course you can always chat with your class representative.
Remember: You don’t have to be part of the executive to get involved and support our kids. Whether you have 2 minutes or 2 hours, there are all kinds of ways you can help out. We regularly put out calls for specific activities and events, but we’re always open to your brilliant schemes and suggestions!
