Here’s what’s coming up for Selkirk families, based on the November school newsletter and November 2–6 Family Spotlight. Thank you to everyone who supported the Sun-Oka apple fundraiser and helped the Kingfisher Class make the Halloween Howler a success.
Night of Lights — tickets on sale
Sunday, November 22, 2026 · 6–9:30 p.m. · Hillside Centre. Enjoy entertainment, treats, in-store discounts and door prizes. Tickets are $5, and 100% of proceeds from tickets bought through SPG support our school. Buy through MunchaLunch by November 18, or at the school office with cash only by November 20.
Holiday fundraising
Shop the Selkirk holiday fundraiser through our Purdys campaign page. Order and pay by Wednesday, December 2, 2026. Pickup is December 14 and 15; pickup hours have not been announced.
A second round of apple ordering is open through November 7, 2026. Delivery is expected in late November; the exact date and pickup window have not been announced. Order Sun-Oka apples →
McTavish art kits: the weekly reports that orders are still being accepted; check current availability. Clara Clark bedding: ordering closed November 4; delivery is expected before Christmas.

Winter Wonderland Fair — November 28
Saturday, November 28, 2026 · 1–4 p.m. · Selkirk Montessori School gymnasium. This winter market is open to the public, with handmade items, baked goods and drinks. Vendor booths accept handmade items only. Booth fees support a Grade 5/6 initiative to increase biodiversity around the school grounds. Apply for a vendor booth and see fee details →

Small donations make a difference
Add an extra non-perishable item to your weekly shop and bring it to the collection bin in the school foyer. Canned goods, unopened dry foods, snacks, sealed hygiene items and sealed pet food are welcome. Peanut butter, jam and nut milks are especially in demand. Donations are welcome all week and are typically delivered on Thursdays. The school collection accepts non-perishable items only.
The school foyer also has a collection box for gently used soccer cleats and shin guards for children in a Garifuna village in Belize.
